Why It's Special
Egypt is the most decorated national team in African football history, with seven Africa Cup of Nations titles. The Eagle of Saladin on the crest dates back to pan-Arab symbolism of the 1950s and 60s, named after Saladin, the 12th century sultan who united much of the Islamic world. The hieroglyphic print running down the body isn't decorative shorthand — it's a deliberate reference to a civilization that was documenting its history in writing while most of the world hadn't started yet.
