The Uli

Overview

A white football jersey with a striking center panel of spiral and geometric patterning in green and black, drawn from the Uli art tradition of the Igbo people of southeastern Nigeria. Why It's Special

Uli is one of Nigeria's oldest artistic traditions, historically practiced by Igbo women as body and wall painting using fluid, symbolic motifs. The spiral forms and geometric lines on this jersey are pulled directly from that tradition — patterns that have carried cultural meaning in southeastern Nigeria for centuries, placed here on a football kit worn in honor of a team that represents over 200 million people from hundreds of distinct ethnic groups.
