Overview

Why It's Special

Orange has no official place on the Dutch flag — which is red, white, and blue — but it has been the color of Dutch sport since the 16th century, tied to the House of Orange-Nassau, the royal family that played a central role in the founding of the modern Netherlands. The KNVB was founded in 1905, making Dutch football one of the oldest organized football associations in the world. The Netherlands has produced some of the most influential players and tactical ideas the game has ever seen, from Total Football to Johan Cruyff to the generations that followed.
