Why It's Special
The protea has been South Africa's national flower since 1976, chosen for its resilience and its ability to thrive across the diverse landscapes of the country. Bafana Bafana means "the boys, the boys" in Zulu — a name given to the national team by supporters in the early 1990s as the country emerged from apartheid and began competing internationally again. South Africa hosted the 2010 World Cup, the first on African soil, and the green and gold of this jersey connects directly to that moment and everything it represented.
